As customers look for a twist on the norm, online retailing is incresingly offering brides a hassle-free option to alleviate at least one element of stress from wedding planning. Web retailer chezbec.com launched a wedding colection in May with the aim of offering brides affordable jewellery with a focus on freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals. The majority of the pieces have been designed exclusively for the site and each piece can also be tailored to a bride's specific needs. Designers include Sascha Howard, Harriet Rouse, Jayne Wade, Vanessa Maxton, the Pearl collection and Fennie Leung.
Rebecca Doyle, founder of chezbec.com, says that brides looking for a contemporary twist will often stick with white or ivory pearls for themselves but then accessorise their bridesmaids' outfits with coloured pearls. "An increasingly popular trend is for brides to choose bridesmaids' jewellery that contrasts with the colour of their dresses," she says. "Green pearls look sensational with hot pink or dusky pink dresses, and blue pearls look divine with chocolate brown dresses."
